Learnerships & Qualifications

What is a learnership?

A learnership is a work-based learning programme that leads to a nationally recognized qualification registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). It combines theoretical learning with practical workplace experience, allowing learners to gain both knowledge and hands-on skills in their chosen field.

How long does a learnership take to complete?

The duration varies depending on the qualification level and programme. Most learnerships range from 12 to 24 months. The specific duration for each qualification is outlined in the programme details on our qualifications page.

What are the entry requirements for learnerships?

Entry requirements vary by qualification level:

  • NQF Level 2-3: Grade 9 or equivalent
  • NQF Level 4: Grade 12 or equivalent
  • NQF Level 5: Grade 12 plus relevant experience or NQF Level 4 qualification
  • NQF Level 6: Grade 12 plus relevant tertiary qualification or significant work experience

Specific requirements may vary per programme. Check individual qualification pages for detailed entry requirements.

Will I receive a certificate upon completion?

Yes! Upon successful completion of a learnership, you will receive a nationally recognized qualification certificate from the relevant SETA and QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations). This certificate is registered on the National Learners' Records Database (NLRD) and is recognized throughout South Africa.

Do I need to be employed to enroll in a learnership?

This depends on the type of learnership. Some learnerships require you to be employed (employed learnership), while others are available for unemployed individuals where we may assist in securing a placement (unemployed learnership). Contact us to discuss which options are available for your chosen qualification.
